In 2018, James Wan delivered an unexpectedly delightful Aquaman. The sixth entry in the DC Extended Universe was an interesting change of pace for the franchise, with a very charming Jason Momoa front and center as the titular King of Atlantis. We know about Aquaman. 

As you can see, the title is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This designation usually refers to the underwater realm of Atlantis. Of course, Atlantis was front and center in the first Aquaman movie, so it's hard to say what the title means at this point. , and ranks as the highest-grossing DC Comics film of all time. So it's no surprise that a sequel is currently in the works. Why we know about the Aquaman?

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Clearly hoping for lightning to strike twice as Aquaman 2 is just around the corner, many key players are coming back for more. At CinemaCon 2023, Wan shared only a few teases about the film's plot. He noted, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has "a romantic story between two brothers, Arthur and Oram". And that "Orum was a villain in the first film, but this time around Arthur needs him to stop the vengeful Black Manta from unleashing a powerful ancient evil."

Additionally, as part of several release date changes Warner Bros. is making to its slate of films, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will now be released on December 25, 2023. Deadline says that this is the reason for the delay in Aquaman 2's release date. The post needs more time.  James Wan returns to direct. He will also produce with Peter Safran. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, who co-wrote the first film, is also back and will script the sequel. Momoa also slipped into a sleek new suit, sharing a photo of Aquaman's classic look on Instagram.
